On the 29th of January, 12 Exminster outstanding athletes participated in an entertaining athletics competition. Events such as chest push, long jump, the javelin and speed bounce were all key for the competition. After all the events were completed the points would be summed and the overall winner would be announced. However, 15 schools were competing, therefore, the Exminster Primary School athletes had to give their all to be victorious in the event!

After an utterly amazing performance, one of which the participators should be certainly proud of, the relays took place. The first relay involved an obstacle course. The competitors had to swiftly run to a certain cone; obstacles such as hurdles intercepted the route. The girls did extremely well in the first event and it then was the boy’s turn. The boys were equally good in the race and both teams gained decent positions. As a result, the first event was exhilarating!

The second race involved to people sprinting as fast as their legs could carry them to the finish line. The two fastest from the boys and the girls were selected by each school. Furthermore, the two teams easily won the races and stunned the crowd with their formidable speed.

The final race of the day involved all the groups. This relay needed great stamina to win. The important race, which could decide whether a team won or lost the overall event, involved all the teams, altogether, totalling 15 laps. It was completely up to the staff of whether how many laps each student ran. Eventually, after the teachers had made their decision, the race began! The girls, after a good start, were running rings round their opposition and, after a fantastic 5 minutes, they thrashed their opponents and sped across the finishing line. On the other hand, the boys kept up their winning rate and defeated their rivals by a huge distance!

Later, after all the races were over and the parents and staff had been thanked many times, the winner was announced. Our school came 5th of 15 schools, topping 2/3 of the participating schools. This fantastic achievement will always be remembered by the many people who took part in this memorable experience!
