Welcome to Exminster Community Primary School

Thank you for your interest in our school. The children, staff, parents and governors have created our Rainbow Values at Exminster Community Primary School.

The EPICentre of Learning.

Enjoyment

We want every child to enjoy coming to school, to feel secure in their friendships and to be happy to learn.

Potential

We aim to help every child reach and exceed their full potential through providing a rich and varied range of learning opportunities within a broad and balanced curriculum. Learning is planned in every class to meet all needs. We aim to find children’s strengths and use these within school to develop children’s confidence and love of learning. ‘Be the best that we can be’.

Inclusion

We pride ourselves in being a highly inclusive school. Inclusion is about adapting for the needs of our learners – however minor or major their needs may be. This has benefits for all learners, learning to celebrate our differences and individuality.

Community

Exminster Community Primary School plays an integral part in life of our village. We maintain a strong family village school ethos. We feel it is essential that children develop an understanding of our school family, our local family, our national family and our international family. Diversity and respect are a golden thread within all that we do.

On Saturday 30th November the KS2 Choir performed a selection of Christmas songs at the village Christmas Market in the Victory Hall. The choir sang beautifully and we are very proud of their efforts. Thank you to the market team for inviting us to take part!DSCF2405 640x315

xmas tree 480x640We have been busy making decorations for the two Christmas trees that we have entered for the Christmas Tree Festival at the Methodist Church. We have a Key Stage 1 tree and a Key Stage 2 tree decorated with the theme of 'A Christmas Wish'. We have also created a huge garland which stretches right across the church which is decorated with origami Christmas trees, handprint reindeer and giant baubles. Make sure that you go and take a look!

Dear diary,
On the 9th and 10th of December, Choir (and some other people) were staying in London's Holland Park Youth Hostel. We visited some tourist attractions, and watched an all time favourite musical......... Shrek!!

9:00 9th December
Dear diary,
The Choir had gathered in my classroom to wait for the coach. We trekked outside and everybody gasped at the giant, Carmel Devon coach. Inside, we had cream, leather seats and blue lights down the middle of the coach.

14:15
Dear diary,
As soon as the children came rushing out of the coach in London we had a little walk to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in Covent Garden, we had an exiting wait till 15:00, and then the show began.

The school council organised a toy sale to help raise money to support our Zambian link. ‘Nayamba’ means good beginning and the children of Nayamba school are delighted that they now have the chance of a great educational start in life. Nayamba school was set up in 2010 after one woman saw that there was no school option for the Zambian children living around her & her neighbours farmlands. Government schools were not only fee paying but also too far away for families with little or no income & no means of transport. Until the project began, school was just a dream for hundreds of these children… but not anymore.

Our first event this year was to collect toothbrushes to send out to Zambia. We collected over 250 toothbrushes. Our second event this year was the Toy sale.  Parents and children were asked to donate any unwanted toys so we could raise money for the Nayamba school charity.  Three of our council's adults came into school to set up during the afternoon, which was a great help.  The sale started at 3.30pm where there was a surge to get to the front of the queue. We had lots of toys, puzzles and games for sale and have managed to raise a grand total of £92.76.  Thank you for all who supported with this event.  All of the money raised will go to buying reading books to help the children of Nayamba school.

Our International Link School is Birqa Jato School in Nekemte in Ethiopia.

Earlier on in the year, in September, we mad a book about Books and our Library. Since we gave it to the School, they have looked through our book and sent us some photo graphs.

We were also glad to find out that the school is getting a library of their own.

These are some of he photos we sent of our library.

In this photo the caption was: More Books international-link-photo-1
