Welcome to Exminster Community Primary School

Thank you for your interest in our school. The children, staff, parents and governors have created our Rainbow Values at Exminster Community Primary School.

The EPICentre of Learning.

Enjoyment

We want every child to enjoy coming to school, to feel secure in their friendships and to be happy to learn.

Potential

We aim to help every child reach and exceed their full potential through providing a rich and varied range of learning opportunities within a broad and balanced curriculum. Learning is planned in every class to meet all needs. We aim to find children’s strengths and use these within school to develop children’s confidence and love of learning. ‘Be the best that we can be’.

Inclusion

We pride ourselves in being a highly inclusive school. Inclusion is about adapting for the needs of our learners – however minor or major their needs may be. This has benefits for all learners, learning to celebrate our differences and individuality.

Community

Exminster Community Primary School plays an integral part in life of our village. We maintain a strong family village school ethos. We feel it is essential that children develop an understanding of our school family, our local family, our national family and our international family. Diversity and respect are a golden thread within all that we do.

Dear diary,
On the 9th and 10th of December, Choir (and some other people) were staying in London's Holland Park Youth Hostel. We visited some tourist attractions, and watched an all time favourite musical......... Shrek!!

9:00 9th December
Dear diary,
The Choir had gathered in my classroom to wait for the coach. We trekked outside and everybody gasped at the giant, Carmel Devon coach. Inside, we had cream, leather seats and blue lights down the middle of the coach.

14:15
Dear diary,
As soon as the children came rushing out of the coach in London we had a little walk to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in Covent Garden, we had an exiting wait till 15:00, and then the show began.

17:30

The show finished, and everyone was exhilarated. We then started to walk to Trafalgar Square, where we had a Christmas Related Surprise...

18:00
Dear diary,
In Trafalgar Square, The massive Christmas tree was invaded by yellow caps as the Choir sang Christmas songs. Crowds gathered and lots of tourists were filming!

21:15
Dear diary,
The children all have had their tea at the Hostel and are now in bed chatting. I hope they won't be chatting for too long I am really tired!!

6:45 10th December
Dear diary,
Mrs Sydenham has gone to wake up the girls downstairs, and I am going to wake up the boys and girls upstairs. I am really looking forward to breakfast, as the food last night was delicious!

7:30
Dear diary,
All the children have packed their bags, (I hope they haven't forgotten anything!) and the group of yellow caps are making their way down to the coach.

Dear diary,
We are now walking along the streets of London to the Science Museum. But have just realised it doesn't open until 10:00. So we are stopping off at the Royal Albert Hall to see the great building. But we are going to sing some songs in front of Albert's golden statue. And yet again crowds gathered!! (I am really proud – even though we got some of it wrong!)

10:00
Dear diary
We have made it to the Science museum, and are in the launch pad trying out all the investigations. We have been called in to watch a show about structures!!!

Dear diary,
We are in the show, and we have had Thomas C making a bridge, Mr Hardee being hammered into a sandwich and Hannah sitting on a chair of nails!!!! Ouch!!

14:00
Dear diary,
We are now at the Churchill War rooms. I am not sure everyone's that keen though. It's all underground!!! We are all listening to Radio Guides to tell us about the room we are in. Did you know the only flushing toilet in the War Rooms was reserved for the Prime Minister!!

15:30
Dear diary
We are now going on to the coach again. We would have gone to Downing Street, but we didn't have time. Instead, we are going to drive past it very s-l-o-w-l-y-!

18:00
Dear diary,
We are just coming off the coach to.......... Service station. The Hostel had packed everyone a tea to have there. Everyone had sandwiches, apple, and a flapjack bar.

20:15
Dear diary,
We have just gotten back to school and all the children are rushing off to find their parents. That is my London Diary (I have to close my book until 2014 now)!
