Year 1 have had a fantastic start to Art Week and have spent the day working with artists who specialise in Rangoli, an exciting form of art that Year 1 have never tried before! Rangoli is traditionally made using dried foods and flowers. In India, people make Rangoli art on their door steps to welcome guests. The guests then walk over it as they enter the house.
As you can see from our pictures, Rangoli needs to be made on a flat surface... our classroom floor was perfect! We chose lots of different dried food and flowers to make our art work and we had to keep standing up to check what our work looked liked. We really enjoyed working with the artists and were very proud of our finished work, which true to tradition, we walked all over once we had finished!
