Today saw the introduction of the ‘High ropes’ which was a real challenge for everybody- even the teachers! Children were way out of their comfort zone and well into the adventure zone. Again, the encouragement from their team members helped individuals achieve things they really didn’t think they could. From hanging upside down from a 50 foot tree to swinging on ropes between suspended platforms, there were many impressive performances from the children. Other groups got caked in mud crawling through the tight caves and kayaked in the refreshing lake.

Tonight we also had a campfire, where children were presented with their ‘Heatree level 1 award’ and some even got the level 2 award. There was also a ‘Heatree’s got Talent’ competition, which involved the children singing, dancing and acting. The teachers were also asked to share their talents.

Quotes of the day:

‘Excuse me Leon (Instructor), can I just say thank you for the best week of my life.’

‘Look how many bruises I have… I only came with one!’

‘I’m so proud of myself for facing my fears.’

‘For some people, getting to the top of the ladder was easy, but for others, two rungs was a huge achievement.’
