
Board of Governors
The Governing body at Exminster Community Primary School, led by the Chair Mrs. Penny Rowbottom, currently comprises 17 members, made up as follows:
Chair/Community Governor : Mrs. Penny Rowbottom
Penny has three children and her youngest child still attends the school. She has been a governor for a number of years and was Chair of our Curriculum Committee for two years. She also takes responsibility for the production of our on-line School Profile.
Vice Chair/Parent Governor: Mrs. Valerie Pollard
Val is the current Chair of our Curriculum Committee and Vice Chair of the Board of Governors. She is a very supportive presence at Open Days at the school – she has one child at the school.
Co-opted Governor: Mr. Andy Smith
Andy’s youngest child attends the school, his oldest two children now having moved on to High School. Andy is also the Chairman of our Sites & Buildings Committee and has played a leading role in our most recent major building extension and in the renovation of our playground.
Co-opted Governor: Mr. Karl Pitman
Karl has two children at the school. Karl is the Chair of our Finance and General Purposes Committee.
Co-opted Governor: Mr. Alwyn Reeves
Alwyn’s two children have both attended the school and his wife, Jenny, teaches one of the Reception classes. Alwyn is our longest serving member on the Governing Board and served as Chair of Governors for 3 years after several years’ service as Curriculum Committee Chairman.
Headteacher: Mr. Bob Foale
Bob automatically qualifies as a governor by virtue of his status as Headteacher and has served on the governing body for 17 years. Bob's son also attended the school.
Teacher Representative: Mrs. Bridget Oliver
Bridget is the head of Year One and has been elected to her role on the governing body by her teaching colleagues. Bridget is a key member of the Sites and Buildings Committee and is very supportive and knowledgeable on matters of health and safety.
Non-Teaching Staff Representative: Mrs. Katie Pyne
Katie’s three children have all attended the school; Katie works as a full-time teaching assistant, chiefly involved with literacy support. Katie
teaches French throughout the school.
Parish Council Representative: Mrs. Ali King
Ali's two eldest children attend the school. Her husband Pete is a Parish Councillor and Ali acts as our school link, enabling school and parish policies to be co-ordinated.
Co-opted Governor: Mr. Jon Petherick
Jon is one of the newer members of the governing body and has three children, two of which attend the school. Jon has become a valuable member of the Sites and Buildings Committee.
Parent-governor: Mrs B Sydenham
Beverley became a parent-governor at the school in the Autumn term 2009; she has two children at the school and has had two years' previous experience as a governor elsewhere. Beverley has also supported the school as a book buddy.
Parent-governor: Mrs. Sarah Denton
Sarah is also a very dedicated ‘Book Buddy’ for the Reception classes and has one child still at the school.
Community Governor: Mr. James Brookes
James has been a governor since January, 2007. He has lived in the village for seven years and has two daughters, both of whom already attend the school. James is a director of a local firm of architects and has a great deal of experience in educational designs.
Parent Governor: Mr Glen Woodward
Glen has recently joined the Governing Body and has lived in the village since 2000. He has two daughters one of whom already attends the school. Glen comes from an IT-led background with 10 years experience in healthcare IT and is currently a Project Manager for the NHS.
Parent Governor: Mr Andrew Clark
Andrew has recently been appointed to the Governing Body and has two children who attend the school. Andrew is an engineer for BT Openreach His wife Sadie is currently joint chair of the School Association.
Associate Member: Mrs. Lydia Vanstone
Lydia is also a long-standing member of the governing body and brings years of Early Years’ educational experience to her role as an Associate Member, having worked here chiefly in the Foundation Stage as an assistant, preceded by several years of employment as a Pre-School Playleader at Exminster Pre-School.
Associate Governor: Mr. Rob Stronge
Rob is a governor of many years’ standing, chairing various committees along the way. His three children all attended the school. He brings a wealth of experience to the governing body, in particular in the area of Human Resources.
Clerk to the Governors: Mrs Jeanette Knight
Jeanette has recently been appointed to the position of Clerk to the Governors.
